Our club applied to the Community branch of Bendigo Bank at Mt Martha and was successfully awarded a large grant to pay for 3 full sets of croquet balls worth $3300! These balls will be reserved for tournaments. On Friday 30 August a representative of the branch, Gary Sanford attended our social day and addressed the members about the work of the bank in supporting community groups. We are very appreciative of the banks support and hope members can use this branch as it will help more community groups are given grants to assist their activities.

SEMCA Season opening
Our club hosted the SEMCA (SouthEast Metro Croquet Association) season opening day on Friday 30 August. It was a great day of spontaneous social games between all the clubs represented in SEMCA; Sorrento, RnB, West Rosebud, Village Glen and our club. Many participants thought it a great way to play and socialise so here’s hoping we can organise more such get togethers.
Every little bit helps
Members are bringing their recyclable drink cans and bottles to the club and regular trips are made the local recycling centre. Once all the cans and bottles are fed into the machine and receipt is issued for the amount of money redeemable. Then it’s off to the cash machine at the front door where the money is retrieved and our club has a few more dollars to help pay for its expenses. The recycling centre is very well maintained and located close by to the club in Watts Road.
Val Trotter tribute
