History

Mornington Croquet Club was formed in 1982 by Masie Meek, who became the club’s first president. The club started play in 1982 on a rough lawn near the Scout Hall. The club then took up residency in Pine Avenue and was officially opened on 26 March 1986.

The club had to find an alternative location in 1999 due to land redevelopment for housing purposes. The club then moved to a vacant plot at Civic Reserve in 2000 with a lot of work to do to get the area ready for play.

With support from the local council and the hard work and fundraising of club members, the new facility quickly became one of the best places to play croquet in the whole of the state, with garden planted around the perimeter, a clubhouse with kitchen facilities, BBQ facilities and shedding to support our activities.

The success of our club is due to the wonderful efforts of members past and present. Our courts are thought to be amongst the best in Victoria.
